Somatic Support for Surgery, Medical Procedures, and Scar Tissue Healing.
Pre-op preparation and post-op care to help your body process and integrate.
A surgical procedure is a high-intensity event for your body. Whether it’s elective, life-saving, or gender-affirming, your nervous system perceives anesthesia and surgery as a moment of profound vulnerability.
If you’re heading toward a procedure, you might feel your body bracing for impact, managing medical anxiety, feeling a foggy sense of dread, or even feeling disconnected from the part of you that’s about to be operated on.
I help you bridge that gap. Using my training in medical trauma and restorative bodywork, we make sure your system isn't just getting through the surgery, but actually coming back to center afterward

The Surgical 6-Session Support Path
I recommend a dedicated set of six sessions to give your body a solid floor to stand on: three sessions of preparation before your procedure, and three sessions of recovery after.
Phase I: The Preparation (3 Sessions)
Before the procedure. We work to settle your nerves and build up your internal battery before you enter the clinical environment.
- Managing the Dread: We take that big, overwhelming cloud of anxiety and break it down into small, manageable pieces your body can actually process.
- Your Toolkit: We build a somatic resource kit—simple internal anchors you can use while you're in the waiting room or being prepped for surgery.
- The Safety Plan: We teach your system that even while you are under anesthesia, there is a tether of safety and a clear plan to return to yourself.
Phase II: The Recovery (3 Sessions)
Coming back to center. After the procedure, we focus on helping your body understand that the event is over.
- Clearing the Fog: We use somatic tracking to help your system flush the lingering disorientation of anesthesia and the heavy feeling of being under.
- Letting Go of the Brace: We work to resolve any holding patterns your body adopted during surgery, helping your nerves finally understand that the procedure is finished and you are safe now.
- Scar Tissue & Touch: Once your doctor clears you, we use gentle, restorative touch on the fascia and scar tissue. This isn't just about physical healing, it’s about reconnecting to that part of your body so it doesn't feel numb or separate from the rest of you.

FAQ: Navigating the Medical Arc
Not at all. The nervous system doesn't have a clock. If you still feel a sense of numbness at your surgical site, a foggy feeling when you think about the hospital, or a physical bracing in that area, your system is likely still holding the survival energy from that day. We can work to complete that cycle now, helping your body finally realize the event is over.
We can begin the non-touch, verbal integration work as soon as you are home and feel communicative. Helping your system flush the disorientation of anesthesia is actually most effective in the first week or two. For the physical scar tissue and direct touch work, we wait until your surgeon has cleared you for manual therapy (usually 6–8 weeks post-op).
That is actually the point of Somatic Experiencing®. While your conscious mind was "off," your body was "on." Your nervous system still tracked the heart rate monitors, the cold room, and the physical impact of the procedure. We don't need your narrative memory to do this work. We listen to your body's current sensations to help those forgotten layers settle.
Absolutely. For many, the trauma starts the moment they walk into the clinic. Our pre-op sessions focus on building somatic anchors. We practice ways to keep your system from getting overwhelmed while you’re in the waiting room, so you can enter the procedure with more resilience and less depletion.
Deeply, yes. As a queer practitioner with a genderqueer ethos, I am particularly honored to support folks through gender-affirming procedures. These surgeries are powerful acts of affirmation, but they are still major medical events. I provide a container that honors both the joy of the transition and the reality of the physical impact on your system.
For the verbal and nervous system tracking, you generally do not need medical clearance. However, for any hands-on work near the surgical site, I do require that you are cleared by your medical team for manual therapy to ensure your physical healing is stable.
Because NDEs involve a profound threshold of the nervous system, this work requires a sturdy container. I generally recommend at least 6 sessions, though many find that a longer arc is needed to fully integrate the spiritual and physiological shifts that occurred. For NDE integration, I also offer 2-hour intensive sessions. These longer sessions are particularly helpful for this work; they provide the spaciousness needed to safely dip in to the deep states associated with the NDE and dip out to ground back into the present, without feeling rushed or jarred by the clock.
